  • We are currently experience a server outage on Mahal and are investigating; unfortunately, we do not have ETA on service renewal.

    While we are hoping to get this machine back online as soon as possible, from a preliminary investigation a fix might take some time. If it's absolutely vital for service to be restored for your hosting, we can possibly attempt to restore your account to a different server. NOTE: There will be some data loss from your last backup to service outage. Also, your nameservers will be changed which will require propagation.

    We will keep you informed and do apologize for the downtime, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

     

    UPDATE: Service should be restored. However, we will be scheduling a follow-up maintenance on Saturday, January 15, 2022. Downtime is to be expected.     The purpose of this work is to apply and activate software module upgrades on code running on the edge routers per the manufacturer's recommendations. During this maintenance window, you may experience up to two brief interruptions in service while they complete the maintenance activities. However, due to the complexity of the work, your downtime may be longer. Customers may also see some re-convergence during the maintenance window. Customers may experience latency and packet loss intermittently throughout the window.

    Over the days following this initial upgrade, Cogent will be upgrading code on redundant upstream routers. Customers may experience high latency, re-convergence and/or suboptimal routing which may vary during this window. Cogent’s network operations engineers will closely monitor the work and will do everything possible to minimize any inconvenience to you. Planned Physical Server Relocation (Resolved)

  • We have received notification that our datacenter is consolidating their infrastructure and servers that are located in their older datacenter will need to be physically moved to their newer datacenter. This means that the Unique server will need to be gracefully shutdown, physically moved, reassigned new IPs, and reconfigured with the new IPs. The planned physical server relocation will take place on:

    Starting at 7:00AM PDT

    We are planning for significant downtime on the day listed above. If you have a site and/or email that absolutely can NOT have any downtime, please let us know right away and we can manually transfer your account ahead of time to a different server already located in their new datacenter with no downtime.

  • Unique has suffered a catastrophic crash. The operating system will need to be reinstalled, software reinstalled, and backups restored. Unfortuanately, this process can take a few days; we sincerely apologize for this issue and inconvenience it has caused.

Emergency Patch for Serious Bash Exploit (Resolved)

  • A serious vulnerability was recently found in bash and an emergecny patch was applied and the server was rebooted to fix the vulnerability. However, during the reboot process, the operating system found some errors in the filesystem and is now running a forced check. the filesystem check is taking longer than expected and is the current reason for the continued outage.

Failing Hard Drive on Mahal (Resolved)

  • A secondary hard drive on the Mahal server is failing and we are in the process of replacing the hard drive. During this time access to the server might be slower than normal and small intermittent outages could occur. We deeply apologize for this and are working quickly as possible to resolve this issue.
