Dying Hard Drive on Mahal
Mahal’s second hard drive or known to most as the /home2 partition is dying. As with all hardware, nothing can simply go on forever and everything has a failure point. The recent problems with the members on the /home2 partition (where the issue appears as all the files are missing) is due to a failing hard drive.
At this point we are making the necessary plans to replace the hard drive and ensure no data loss for our members. We also keep full server backups, however we recommend our members to always keep backups of their own.
At this time we are scheduling the hard drive switch for Monday; April 14, 2008. Though unforeseen issues could arise and this schedule could be moved up or postponed. Please check back often for any updates on this issue. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.
